

About Pastor Coleman Starks

Elder Coleman Starks is the eldest son of the late Coleman Starks Sr. and Leona Smith. He was born on December 23, 1953, at Harlem Hospital In Harlem, New York.

In 1971 he met a young woman that he was destined to marry named Sonia Lynette Ancrum. He also got saved at the Saint’s Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Roosevelt, N.Y where Dr. David Ancrum her Father was the Pastor. Three years later they were joined in Holy Wedlock. He is blessed to be the father of four children and eight grandchildren.

In 1974 he joined the USAF and served with distinction for 8 years. He was stationed at Lackland AFB, and Shepard AFB in Texas, and finally Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA. In the USAF he was trained as an X-Ray Technologist and worked in the field for over 40 years. While in the Air Force, he started working for Kaiser part-time, and in 1980 when he was Honorably discharged he started full-time and worked for Kaiser for 37 years.
Elder Starks had been a member of the Progressive C.O.G.I.C. for twenty-six years. Prior to that, he was a member of Gospel Center C.O.G.I.C. for twelve years.
He is currently a member of the Greater McGlothen Memorial C.O.G.I.C. where he serves as the Pastor.

He has served in many areas of ministry including the Usher Board, Deacon, Y.P.W.W. teacher and President, Choir member and Choir President, Director of Children’s Church, Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. He has also been the Sacramento District Sunday School Superintendent, as well as the Sunday School Superintendent for the Capitol Region, and served as the local Sunday School Superintendent at Progressive.
He has also served as the Superintendent for California Northwest Sunday School and has been in the position for twelve years. After prayerful consideration, Bishop Hamilton appointed him the AIM Coordinator in March 2010.
He served Bishop Hamilton faithfully and now serves C.O.G.I.C. as a member of the Greater McGlothen Memorial Temple C.O.G.I.C. in the NorCal Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under Bishop J.W. Macklin.
In 2014 Pastor Travis Herron asked Elder Starks to come to Greater McGlothen to assist him because he was going into Open Heart surgery and he did not want the church without an Elder to administer in his absence while he was recovering.

On February 18, 2018, he was appointed Pastor of the Greater McGlothen Memorial Temple C.O.G.I.C. by Bishop J.W. Macklin. The church and Ministry have continued to grow under his Ministry.
